Om Gottskär/About Gottskär

Gottskär, with its natural harbour has an interesting history of shipping and trading dating back to the 13 century. Today it serves as a haven for yachts and motor boats and is a popular place to visit, especially during the summer. Within the harbour area you will find a supermarket, restaurant, pub, kiosk, café and bakery as well as a marine fuel station.

Situated on the Onsala peninsula with its coastline and varied landscape the area offers excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as bathing, cycling, golf, hiking, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and sailing. As a visitor to the Onsala you will sense and experience the pulse of history in a number of unique cultural settings.

Nidingen, Sweden’s first lighthouse and the oldest double lighthouse in the world is situated to the south-west of Gottskär with a boat departing from the harbour daily during the summer.

Since the 14th century, markets have been held in the nearby town centre of Kungsbacka; a tradition that continues to this day. On the first Thursday of every month street merchants and market-goers still gather in the square. Cosy small shops in the old town centre are a complement to the Freeport Designer Outlet Village and the Kungsmässan Shopping Centre where you can find real bargains in one of Sweden’s largest commercial centres.
